Our Story
FAVORITE TOFFEE was founded in the fall of 2024 by longtime friends Chef Susana Querejazu and Elizabeth Hundt, inspired by southern grandmas everywhere, gifting homemade delicacies at the holidays, as hostess gifts, and just because.
Friends for nearly twenty years, Susana and Elizabeth set out to create confections that honor nostalgic Southern sweets while bringing a modern, elevated touch to every bite. With Elizabeth’s roots on her family farm in Cooke County and Susana’s pastry expertise, Favorite Toffee celebrates the art of thoughtful giving — sweet, simple, and made to share.
SUSANA QUEREJAZU is a pastry chef who finds joy in the details, from the perfect crackle of toffee to the delicate layers of viennoiserie. Her work blends technical precision with a playful curiosity, creating desserts that feel both nostalgic and new. When she’s not in the kitchen at Commodore Perry Estate or Lutie’s, you’ll find her stirring up small-batch toffee, a side project born from her love of sharing simple, sweet moments..
ELIZABETH HUNDT might spend her days in a traditional 9-5, but at heart, she’s a sous chef (and great wine drinking partner). She learned the joy of cooking in her family farm’s kitchen — and the value of hard work beside her dad and uncles on the farm. When an exceptional pecan harvest in 2023–2024 filled the Hundt farm with abundance, she saw the perfect opportunity to blend family, tradition, and a lifelong love of Southern sweets. From that moment, Favorite Toffee was born.
HUNDT FAMILY FARM is a small, family-owned farm in Lindsay, Texas, continuously operated since 1902. Five generations of Hundts have lived and worked on this hilltop farm, where many of the pecan trees — including those planted by Grandpa Joe — still thrive today. Hand-harvested by founder Elizabeth Hundt and her family, these pecans carry the legacy of the land and are now shared beyond the farm through handcrafted toffee inspired by that same tradition.
